Goo-Goo for Ga Ga
Hello friends, my name is Adolph Soliz and I am....a little monster !!! Yes thats correct I am a fan of Lady Gaga. I think she's awesome both as a performer and as a person making a difference in the world concerning different issues. Yes I know many of you think shes over the top and too theatrical but i love her theatrics. So anyways, just wanted to share some sketches of a Mother Monster, as I've mentioned in other post, music is a big inspiration for me and when I combine that with my love for animation I get so many ideas for "music videos". And I think GaGa would be a great choice to be animated i think it would leave her with no barrier to create. Anywho, enjoy and until next time :)

art from the soul
WARNIG EARLY MORNIG RAMBLINGS:
Normally, actually never, do I share the sketches I put in my journal. They're usually just some random doodling of a face or pose to reflect my mood, but tonight I went a lil larger. Its still a rough sketch but I always find those first drawings to be the most genuine and heart felt. And as an artist I feel like these pictures do more explaining than i could ever put into words. And in in these wee morning hours i felt posting it would be theraputic.
Sooooo here we go: Well 2011 has seemed to be a particularly tricky year, it came banging on my door a few months early with a taste of things to come. It's been a battle this year to keep up with life's challenges, more so than ever before in my life. Today I found myself actually feeling like I lost so much of my innocence this year ( which i laughed at considering Im almost thirty) I always felt like I was the best of friends with my inner child and as the year has progressed I've felt like I've had to let him slip away to be a "grown- up". And like the last 29 yrs of life music had a way of stepping in with a message for me , this came to mind as I wandered( particularly starting at 2:24, take a listen below) My thoughts and the song brought the image to mind of my younger self approaching me with the innocence of a child to ask me, " whats wrong?'' And then placing his finger on my heart, he reminds present day me that he never left. That he was still around, maybe in the dark, but there none the less ...within me. Waiting for our time to be together.
Yes life can be hard but thats the adventure of it all, this year has tested my optimistic out look on things and though things may be hard now who knows what tomorrow will bring me . It's the hope in tomorrow, and the faith within ourselves that we should all look too when struggling. So to everyone having a bad day, week, month or year, keep your head up and know things will be just fine if you just believe :)
Now if you'll excuse me, my lil me and I got some catching up to do

The Floufooz
So as the sun was starting to peep over the horizon I realized I haven't posted anything in quite awhile. Things have been busy since last I posted I moved, finished illustrating one book, teaching and few new career possibilities have presented themselves.
Thought I would share the work in progress from the next book I'm working on for another great author. You may remember Chuck from a few post back and these are just a couple pages from his adventure. Just a lil' over half way through the book but the challenge for me here is painting digitally. Its not my specialty but I really want to give the book a very painterly feel without it having an obvious flat "digital" look to it. Im pretty happy with the way some of these are turning out. It's definitely a re-learning process ( not that i knew much to begin with lol) in photoshop but I'm enjoying the process. More stuff coming soon, until next time take care all :)

A wicked kind of post...
So ever since i heard the soundtrack from Wicked many years ago i always wanted to see in animated form. The song isn't just there for some people to dance around and sing. The song ( like in all good musicals) helps the story move foward and gets so much about the character across in such a short time. WATCH IT!!! WATCH IT!! WATCH IT!!
Annnd then not to long ago I saw these storyboards done by a Disney board artist.WATCH IT!! WATCH IT!!! WATCH IT!!!
AWESOME RIGHT!?!?!?! well all my free lance work has kept me busy and away from animating but the urge to flip some paper has been getting stronger and stronger. Right now I'm just in the beginning stages of it all but I'd like to animate the last 40 sec of the song "defying gravity" from Wicked as a test. Alot of work...yes .When will i finish it...I dont know...WILL I finish it? YES!!!!
For now heres just a couple pages out of the 15 that are in my sketch book that I did while listening to the song on repeat :) they're rough and some really suck but thats part of the process. Untill next time friends:)

Soooo I been kind excited and thinkin about my blog...that I just started today...and so I posted this work in progres of a girl smoking just beyond the Eiffel Tower at sunset. I wanted a soft romantic feeling so I took my initial sketch on the right and decided to use pastels. I forgot how messy that gets soooo the colors kinda got muddy in the image on the left so I started over again with the center piece leaving all the darks for last...theeeeen i decided I didnt like her pose anymore so I scrapped all three and I started all over :)
p.s thanks to jon kuo who helped with some perspective issues and to my handsome husband for the inspiration:)
