just sharing another work in progress. i used to draw mermaids all the time. after a mermaid dry spell over the year mermaids have began reappearing in my sketchbook.

Woo hoo ...right before midnight lol. Just a lil Halloween doodle of my favorite witches from "Hocus Pocus". Not as pushed as I'd like but one of the next children's book I'm illustrating is due fri( more details soon :D ) and after I gotta lot of doodles I want /need to bring to final. Anywho...Happy Halloween everybody ...I'll be waiting for the great pumpkin at my desk :)

Lol...I was excited that I remembered to get this in before midnight. Then I earlier its actually thrs. Anywho, while doing my work I was watching my favorite batman movie, "batman returns". I love Catwoman in this movie, she's kinda crazy but hey we all are lol. The final sequence where she gets her revenge on scary Christopher Walkin inspired these sketches. Though I'm a little divided on which one to bring to final hmmmmmm???

Wednesdays woman

Hi people...made it again just under the wire :) today is just gonna be another work in progress. Which I think all post will be until I finish a couple jobs which are due at the end of  this month. Anywho, since October is breast cancer awareness month I wanted to draw something to show my support. A few strong woman in my life had to battle breast cancer and beat it. And I know many more are doing the same. These woman show a lot of strength to under go treatment, the physical and mental battle is hard. I just wanted to draw something to show how fierce I think you woman are who battled or are battling breast cancer now. Much love.

It's before midnight just barely made it just another work in progress. Pretty happy with it I don't think I plan on doing a whole lot more to it. I think it captures the farewell mood to summer. Don't go summer I love you :)

For those who saw last weeks post I mentioned Wednesdays woman would be back this wed. Well, I think wed. Are coming earlier every week. Though I'm grateful to say I'm loosing track of days from being busy with more freelance:) so though its a few days late here are just a few roughs of things to come. Have a great weekend people :)

hi everyone :) i know its been awhile sine the last post but assoon as i got back from vacation ive been busy catchin up with my freelance work. Buuuut "The Little Mermaid" is back in theaters today, not excited about seeing it in 3D but VERY excited to see it on a big screen again !!!!!! I was obbsessed with this movie when i first saw it waaaaay back when i was 7 yrs old and still one of my favorite Disney movies. I remember wanting so much to just be in the movie hahahaha and just swim along with everyone else. So thats what i decided to draw this week   :)

When Ariel sang ,"part of your world" I got lost in her grotto i just wanted to explore everything in there.

And after that huge wave crashed behind her i attempted to create the same thing when ever i got out of the pool.

 

 

 I remember clearly when Ariel argued she was 16, and could basically do what she wants, my seven yr old mind thought " yeah 16 is old let her do what she wants!"

this last drawing is just a work in progress of one of my favorite scenes when Ariel gets her voice taken. Hope to have it watercolored in the next week.

Well thanks for reading about how much of a nerd i am for "The little mermaid. ooooh just wait and see what i do if they ever decide to re release aladdin in theaters. :D And Wednsdays Woman will be back this coming wed.

Wednesday's woman #17

Hi guys, just barely made it before midnight. Been a very busy bee lately and on top of everything I'll be moving within the next couple weeks. Kinda excited and at the same time scared to have my own place :) anywho , more on that later. This week I just wanted to share some of my exploration drawings for a illustration of my favorite mermaid, ARIEL!! You guys have no idea how obsessed I was with this movie when it first came out. I was the proudest kid in the second grade with a little mermaid coloring book...until the other kids made fun of me for it. Sorry rambling again, so basically I just wanted to draw Ariel in the moment just before she looses her voice. In the first rough I think she's to scared lookin. Yeah I'm sure she was scared in that moment but she was most def. not the victim. She a made a choice and I wanted to show her standing firm in her choice even if she was scared of those gnarly green hands coming for her. Anywho, hope to have the final done after my move. Hi guys, so today i just wanted to show the progress from last weeks post of Annette Funicello. My scanner broke so for now its just sad pics from my phone but ill update clear images soon. I'm close to finishing young Annette( i changed my mind on the background last minute and im now inda regretting it)  and I'm in the middle of the second piece. I'm nervous/excited to start the, " Babes in Toyland " piece. Ill post the finished ones soon as they're done . Go smile and I'll see ya guys next week :)

Wednsday's woman #14

On April 8th Annette Funicello passed away, she was one of my favorite Disney actors. When I heard the news I started sketching a few doodles of her from the first movie I saw her in, Disney's Babes in Toyland. I remember we had recorded it off the t.v when i was a kid and it  went right into my little library of movies i constantly watched. At first i was gonna do a piece from just that fil, but for whatever reason i felt bad neglecting her as a Mousketeer or her time as a beach bunny in the 60's surf films. Soooooo i decided to do all three. These are just my ideas that i got down in my sketch book . i hope to have the final pieces in a week or so. Until then listen to Annette sing a song that comes to mind around the first of the month. See ya next wed:)

And this awesome lady is Celeste, she's seen alot of changes since the first doodle my senior year at art school. Her back story is still in the works and still morphing as her character fleshes out. Though, just like Lilly from an earlier post you'll be seeing alot of Celeste this year. She was most difinetly inspired by all the strong women in my life.  I also wanted a strong female charcter who could kick ass and wear clothes at the same time lol. She may not be a size two but she stronger than you:) See you guys next week...aaaaaaaand i just noticed i didnt finish her gun  *sigh* lol

For this post I just wanted to share pages from my sketch books. I love watching dancers and seeing how their bodies move it's awesome to watch someone perform. I also been watching alot of arieal dancers lately too. It's so cool to see someone wrap them self in the silks and move so smoothly..its like magic :) The performance P!nk gave a few years back at the Grammy's while she sang and used the silks is one of my favorites, it gives me chills every time i watch it ... and maybe a tear :.)

Hi people, I'm back sorry for the short break. As it usually does, life knocks unexpectedly and demands attention. Annnnyways lets get back on track here, Im gonna upload a little extra to make it even. This is Lilly she's a singer growing up during the height of the Harlem Renaissance. She doesn't really have high ambitions to be well known as a singer. She just enjoys performing and sharing her gift at a little night club. What she doesnt know is that her gift is going to take her beyond what she thought was ever possible.
Lilly's story is just one of a few characters who your'e going to be seeing this year :)

WEDNSDAYS WOMAN #9

hi guys, so before Bruno Mars was a well known guy he released his EP, and my favorite track was called, "somewhere in Brooklyn". And when I heard it I had so many visuals run through my head and saw the whole thing animated . It's a lil diddy all about a guy who's looking for a girl he met while waiting for a train. So alot of time went by and I decided I was finally going to board it out and animate...yes...animate :) A few weeks later i saw the short "paperman" in front of, "Wreck it Ralph".  Which happened to be about a guy who meets a girl while waiting for a train :/ lol.  So I didnt get to far into the project but here are the rough sketches of the girl Bruno was looking for, and of course Bruno's song. well, i always to avoid straight on nudity...not because I'm opposed to it... simply to keep some mystery about the girl. Except awhile back I got frustrated when trying to come up with a pose, so instead I just drew what my brain was thinking of... BOOBS!!! Go smile, and I'll see ya next week :)

AAAAAAAHHHHHH!! A busy few weeks had me almost forget about todays "Wednsdays Woman", but I made it just in time. So this Friday I'll be getting to see my favorite singer Brandy, "the vocal bible ", in concert. And i got Brandy on the brain . A few months ago I found out she was promoting her new album. So the night before I drew this in hopes it would get me a chance at meeting her....it didnt happen ..but it was close. LOL. Have a good week and smile :)
